Review of ShopKeep Quest
Simple Shopkeeper Game
By SilverWombat · Aug 30, 2014
Shopleep Quest is a very easy game that may appeal to young children (that don't get frustrated easily). The game begins with the player choosing to open a shop for business. The player is given $1100 to begin purchasing items from a static list of items. If prices are high the player can choose not to buy anything. When the player has finished purchasing or not buying, they rest. A day passes and the purchase price of the items randomly changes to a new value. The player can then choose to buy or sell, with the end goal being to see how many days they can stay in business.
There is not much more to the game. The play screen is static until the end screen is displayed. There is a help screen overlay, but I don't suggest using it. The overlay appears on top of the main screen and your mouse cursor can only go under it, which means you can't close the help screen to play. Reloading the page us the only workaround.
There are a few glitches in the game. First, the game says you are supposed to be able to hire employees to expand the business, however that function doesn't appear on the game screen. The "purchase" button turns blank (gray) if your purchase price exceeds your funds, however you can still click the button and buy. Any time in which your money goes below $1 (like clicking a certain gray button), you loose instantly.
The game was likely made by someone who is quite young or has a very limited grasp of game design and flash.
