Review of Idle Farmer

Decent idle game, for what it's worth

I'm a big fan of idle games. I don't know why, but I just like watching my stats grow for me doing nothing.

That being said, I like idle games that have a point. Some sort of goal. This game doesn't seem to have one.

Let me tell you what I mean. You start the game with a potato seed. You grow it. You water it. You harvest it. You wait til you have lots of money. Then go upgrade. You get different seeds. And it continues.

You can get married, if you give a girl a million flowers. You get a flower randomly when you harvest. You can give girls only "bunches" of flowers, which I think are probably a dozen or so flowers. And your reward is a stat boost and the ability to get eggs.

After you get married, the game really ends, because there's nothing more you can work towards.

There's also very little reward for anti-idling. In most games, you can win faster somehow by anti-idling (i.e. actually playing the game). And anti-idling typically has a HUGE advantage over idling. Not so in this game. The only things you can actually do to play is add stats, and water plants. Watering plants isn't necessary, it makes plants grow faster, but the irony is that it takes a while to actually water. While you're watering, another plant becomes ready for harvest, and by the time you harvest that, another plant, and then another, and then when you get a chance to water again, the first plant ran out of water.

So can you do well just by planting potatoes? Sure. But there's not much more depth to the game than that.
