Review of Dark Cut 2
Nice & Gory!

I wouldn't say this is a game made for the gore-lovers, this is more like a game made just for fun. I'm sure anyone would enjoy it but truth is, those that are more into gore, surgeries, combat and all will enjoy it even more, like me, I always loved surgery!
What is this game about? Simple, you're a surgeon from the 19th century, your job is to help people live another day. You'll get a bunch of tools such as forceps, scissors, bandages and as an anesthetic, alcohol. The job is simple unlike it seems to be so;
1. Know your tools. This is very important. Else you'll suffer the "Where's the Hot Iron?" question disease.
2. Administer anesthetic (Alcohol) until it reaches 100%. If getting lower than 90%, administer more.
3. Follow the indicated instructions.
That's it.
The setting of this place, according to date, is 1863. This means that it is during the American Civil War, so it is safe to say that you're a North American surgeon, but who are you fighting for? Funny thing is, ether has been invented at around year 1840, so why don't you use it? The only explanation could be that, since you're a combat surgeon (and indeed you're doing surgeries IN combat), you have no time for a general anesthetic since that will make the patient fall asleep. And yes, I KNOW that he will still be kind of asleep when he's drunk from all that alcohol. Okay, enough of this talk.
Now let's talk about how graphic this game is. Apparently it's not too realistic, but it is gritty enough that makes it look very realistic. The details are very well done, you get to see how you opening up a wound WILL really open it up as if it was in real life. Hell, moving a "skull part" will look realistic. Not all of it looks real though. For example, you get to see some transparent "red river" somewhere, not gonna say where but you will. It's not just gory, it is also extremely disgusting on some parts, but luckily it was not done to be hyper realistic so...As the game itself says, this is not made for those that can easily vomit looking at "guts" and such.
The sound and music is the terrible part here. Funnily, it's a lot more scary to play this without any music or sound, you might understand why when you play it. The music is just terrible, nothing that chills your bones, nothing that increases the tension...The very first song in the game is actually very popular and, for me, very overrated. I don't like it. The only time music is great is on the 3rd and 4th level. Why? Because in the 3rd, it's silence, hah! And in the 4nd, this one REALLY is a tension-inducing one, so that's great. Not just that, the situation in Level 4 is already very tense.
The sound is really stupid. Every time you do something "right" (Stars disappear), you hear that ugly out-of-place achievement-like sound. Besides, when you are trying something that "hurts" a patient, you get to see some Black & White flashes. And what do you hear? Some very small pain groans, no extreme pain shouting at all, that's disappointing. THAT is why I recommend you to play this without music or sound. Sure, there is some good sound just like the background screaming and shooting and exploding and stuff, but it ain't worth shit when you got those stupid flashes. Without sound, you can just imagine how terrible the pain shouts would be when that flash appears.
So, in conclusion, this game is as gory as it can get on a Flash Game. I highly recommend it for anyone that is not easily afraid of gore and such. This game is lovely.
