Review of Need for Speed Undercover

Bad. Very bad.

By Kyle Layton · Sep 4, 2016

This is probably the worst Need for Speed series I've ever played. The only thing good about this game is the exaggerated performance physics.

You start as a rookie cop doing undercover to uncover a huge car smuggling operation in Tri-City, you will start from the small crews then after you got inside their skin, you take them out silently on the highway. The gameplay features a new type of race, highway battle, basically an outrun on the highways, and removed drift and drag races. Some more new modes are grand theft auto, you steal a car and hide it.

The variety of cars is rather abundant and thoughtful, separating them in Tiers, similar to the NFS Carbon, where the cars are categorized on how fast they are in Tiers. The lower the number the faster they go. Customization is simplified, and exactly copying parts from NFS Prostreet, which is a very boring addition because they removed the individual bumper and side skirts modification mode, and just pack 'em up into one body kit package. The hoods are decreased, wings, roof scoops, and muffler tips are 100% from Prostreet.

Performance is the worst of all series, you literally can max tune acceleration, and your acceleration is so fast you will hit top speed in like 3 second, this happens often with American muscles. Tuning your car to grip literally makes it very slippery and the reaction speed of the steering wheel is awfully fast, making your car very hard to control. The traction physics may also cause your car to barrel roll if you maxed it to grip. Sick. The story is quite decent but somewhat too short and makes the game slightly uninteresting. It is probably the only thing that makes you want to keep up with the races and other things.

If you want to buy this game, don't.
