Review of Gateway II

Not so bad

By Stalin15 · Apr 16, 2014

It's a game that has some very nice storyline, told in a very artsy way though, in which a Daughter and a Mother struggle against each other to set themselves free...Or at least it seems so, I don't know what they want to set themselves free from. The Mother seems to be a total antagonist, she's trying her best to emprison her Daughter. Her Daughter tries to "liberate" herself from her. Ahh, these goddamn Mother and Son (Daughter in this case) dependency family bullshit.

The sequel is a lot more fun than the first game of the series for some strange reason. Gameplay is the same, a Point & Click where you have to do some surreal puzzles to pass through, as well as sometimes use the inventory. Graphics are the same as well, just the same cubical-style where there's no detail at all, such as nobody has a face.

It has more creepy factor than the first one, but I won't spoil you on this one.

SPOILERS:

Apparently, when the daughter gets the courage to talk to her mother about how she's tired of her being so over-protective, Mother goes into the car and this way she suicides by crashing, making the Daughter feel guilty, inducing a deep trauma which makes her go "hide inside her own unconsious". You're a grey robot who helps her.

...Why is the robot in her conscious in the first place? Is he trapped too? Or is this a conscious-fixing robot? I hope they'll release Gateway III some day to explain these situations. I also hope it will be more fun than this one.
