Reverse Tower Defense? Good idea!

10/09/2013

For those that play and love Tower Defence, this game is for you. Well actually, it might or might not be for you. Like the review title says, it's pretty much a Tower Defense but in reverse; YOU are attacking, NOT defending. Cool, huh?

Cool or not, I'll tell you what's good about this game.

The story ain't much to tell, it's very cliche. You're just a greedy evil man that wants to invade some stereotypical fantastic goodie two-shoes humans and steal their gold and get your territory. All in all, I think you can make this story more fun; You're Atila, or you're Genghis Khan...Whatever, whoever you are! Hell you can think you're yourself becoming into a badass overlord, it's your free mind, right? WRONG *executes you* Sorry Stalin joke there.

The gameplay is actually more complex than it sounds and/or looks like. First of all, the only way to win is to have a bunch of goblins that steal gold. No other minions of yours can do that, they're all an asset for these goblins. Now, there's a minimum and a maximum of gold carried. Got all gold? Great, you win the level with a gold medal...Or something like that, I'm sure you know what I mean, my moustachio sure does. And of course this game has upgrades! The upgrades are kinda fun, it's not the basic "Increase damage by +1" that has a limit of 10...Okay fine, it's not JUST that, you also get some unique upgrades. Each upgrade will change your castle, making it bigger and handsome-r. Heh, I'm bad with words. Also, achievements will make your throne room prettier.

The minions are all unique, you will not find any that is the same as the other. Your main one is a goblin, which gets gold and is the weakest one, but is the most important character for obvious reasons.

There's also a spell system in which each spell used increases gold spend and mana used. Balance stuff. Even evil badass warlords need balance, huh? Hey, don't look at me and my moustachio!

If you care about graphics, well it's nothing fancy at all, it's like pretty much every Tower Defense game out there; It's taken on a top-down perspective. You don't really get to see how badass your goblins, golems, turtles and other minions look like. The towers at least do look like 2.5D, so you know which one is more dangerous than the other.

All in all, I think this game is great and worth a try for anyone who likes Tower Defense. I would also like to suggest those that don't like Tower Defense to give this a try, it might or might not be worth it for you. Trying doesn't hurt unless it's food full of processed sugar.

I forgot about the replayability. I, myself, would replay it if I had the want ;) So, is this game replayable? Yeah, but you might get a little bit bored after replaying it so many times. And you'll get more bored, and more, and more, and more...But it all depends on you.

Children, we all know evil characters never win, but will you?
