Yep, I always talk about how I like Thing-Thing 1, 2, 3 and 4, but in this case, Thing-Thing Arena is one I dislike. First let me say that Thing-Thing Arena is pretty much Thing-Thing set in a "Survival Mode"-only gamemode, in an arena. What does that mean?
It means that Gameplay could offer something more, but it doesn't. Sure, it at least has enemies that shoot you instead of a bunch of slow "human zombies" trying to get you and it does have some nice weapon variety although that variety is not really that good. Most of the weapons you'll feel like they're just there for decoration, no pistol is stronger than the other pistol and such.
The game relies on three gamemodes; Survival Mode, Zombie Survival, Super Survival and Stinky Bean Survival. In Survival Mode, it's just the regular "Arena Survival" type of gamemode, you against human enemies. Zombie Survival is you with a shotgun full o' ammo that never ends (because it's 9999, duh) against a bunch of silly somewhat fast zombies. Yep, classic, huh? Super Survival, I didn't try much, but I think it's pretty much a "Survival Mode on Steroids"...No shit, right? You get 20 rounds of Gyrojet and 30 rounds of grenades for your Grenade Launcher, bombs away! Most of the enemies will just be the regular ones, no zombies, beans, etc, but to be honest I'm not too sure, maybe there are other enemies. As for the Stinky Bean Survival, it's just you against Stinky Beans, "the most disgusting living being on Earth" or so.
Now, for graphics, I can see that it's a direct copy of Thing-Thing 2 with improvements. For example, the hands and the animation. It seems that the detail has been improved by a little, more on guns than environment. Oh yeah, environment...It sucks, it's just one screen with something on the background and nothing else, it's just extremely terrible I can't even describe it well enough. Now, the biggest flaw that I can say about this is how I can't change the quality. Every time I play on Survival Mode, it goes Low Quality, can't switch to high, the hell? While on Stinky Beans Survival, it's high. What's up with this?
For the sound, there isn't much to tell except that it doesn't have much of Thing-Thing 2 like the silly dying groan, luckily. The gun sounds remain the same just like in Thing-Thing 1 and Thing-Thing 2.
There is actually a music variety in this game, you can even choose it yourself. The music ranges from some that you have surely heard somewhere (especially in Newgrounds) to something that you may have not heard. It seems to be mostly Techno. All in all, this music variety isn't too bad, although it doesn't have any way to disable it and just listen to your own.
So, as you can see, this isn't really a game I like and I wouldn't evne recommend. It does have some fun, but it really could do some work, and I mean it.
