Surprisingly Fun

"No clue" is a old school platformer that the programmer made for a competition.  Although the graphics are basic and the music is annoying (to me), the game is surprisingly fun.  The objective is to move the little dude from the starting point to a little colored dot.  There are also spikes to avoid and gaps to jump.  Touching spikes is instant death, which just restarts the level.  It can be a bit frustrating if you're stuck at some point and keep making the same mistakes.  The game has 21 levels (7 of which are secret).  Some of them can be reached by miscalculating a jump and falling into a gap in the floor.  Usually falling in such as gap is instant death.  Hidden levels are black & white, instead of colored like normal levels.

For most all of the levels, jumping as far as possible will work.  Sometimes though you have you have to stop short so you don't land on spikes.  There are two obstacles worth mentioning.  The first is that jumping to reach a high location requires jumping up and out from your current level and quickly pressing the key to move towards the next level.  It take a bit to get used to.  The other obstacle is the occational boulder that you have to push and jump off of to reach a platform where the dot is to end the game,  If you miscalculate while jumping on the boulder, it will stop rolling.  You can get it rolling again but it isn't easy.

At the time of wring this review there were no hacks.  There are only a couple hacks that would be useful for a game like this, invincibility and instant level win.  Invincibility would take all the fun out of the game though.

Play time to complete the game: a half hour.  There is a credits screen at the end of the game but other than that there is no end to the game, it just restarts back at level 1.
