TDP4: Hate and Love

05/02/2015

First off, TDP4 is a multiplayer platformer shooter sort of game by the company Javelin, which can be played on its website, on Kongregate, or on many other sites, most of them Russian. Basically, the game is all about killing other players for experience and coins, and earning medals for cash. The coins and cash can then be used to buy better guns, artifacts, and items. Those in turn help you earn experience on your journey to reach the max user level of 60. Now, if any of you have known me in the past, you’ll know that TDP4 is one of the games I play the most often. Yes, I enjoy playing it, have had bad test scores from it, and have reached level 60 (70 will be added soon). But I'm not going to rate it anymore than 6/10.

A large thing blocking this game from 10 stars, is the Pay 2 Win aspect. Though coins and cash can be earned without buying, to get any of the good weapons, artifacts, and items (or at least enough to contend with others), money will inevitably need to be spent. This ensures that the game has a caste system of those who spend money and those who don’t. While this isn’t much of a problem for me as I’m in the top layer of things, it must be mentioned to anyone interested in this game and brings up another large problem which is the tension between the buying players and the freebie players.

The game also has some decent graphics, but others are lacking. I would say that the movement is nice, but I haven't played many other multiplayer platform shooters x). I do prefer it to strike force heroes movement if that helps.

So over all, the game is annoyingly sort of fun to play, but I'm not sure I would recommend to my friends (irl).
