Boss Must DIE!! - but not unless you pay me for it

12/11/2015

Note: This review is for v1.0.25 - the developer seems to be making frequent changes (not all of them good) so YMMV as to what version of the game you play.

First a quick point: there is no RPG element to this game.  If that's a draw for you, you will be disappointed.  (Taggers... a purchased level/skill system where you can (and must) buy every skill with absolutely no choice in how the character grows... is not RPG).

Now as to how the game plays?  Slowly.  Very slowly.  In fact, after a day of playing on 20x speed, I've managed to get to... level 9.  And for my trouble I have... absolutely no changes in how the game plays from when I was on level 1.

Now, it's quite probable that I'm doing something wrong.  The game's documentation is laughable.  On the other hand... it's a click/idle game.  I buy levels, I click, I ???, I profit, right?

Except so far, there's no profit.

My one skill I've managed to afford does nothing worth mentioning... my character dps is insufficient to get to the next boss, the amount of gold I need to level is insane compared to how slowly I get it... and I can't "doom" (which is the soft reset mechanism... I think?) because I don't know how.

All in all, this looks like an early game in a dev's career... and one they need to work a lot harder on, especially in the balance catagory... which would be fine, if they weren't doing tricksy hobbitses things like capping the number of diamonds you can earn per day unless you pay real money to buy more.

Final impression: this is going to head less from a labor of love and quickly descend into a P2W cashgrab.  I mean, hey... if Clicker Heroes can make a mint on an idle clicker, why can't everybody, right?
