The game does not live up to the book or the TV series but the writing is ok

06/17/2018

I played this game for a while because I was periodically hooked on the books and TV series, but the game itself lacks in content and is of the lowest form of genre, freemium waiting game, yet another clone of farmville 2.0

The developers have obviously cashed in on the popularity of a much loved fantasy genre, but unlike Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, and Discworld, A Game of Thrones has yet to produce a noteworthy game, in fact this is probably the worst, and Game of throne Genesis is probably the best.

Physical Qualities

In terms of Physical qualities the sound and artwork are very well done, each object and character in the game is detailed and immersive, the sound and sound effects are reminiscent of the TV show and top quality throughout.  Unfortunately though the visual representation of your hold does not change based upon the location, and the graphics are almost entirely stationary, reminiscent of old browser based games such as lords.

Gameplay

The gameplay varies depending on what you want from a game, for me it varies between excellent and awful and how you view the aspects of the gameplay will probably be the deciding factor for you.

Originality
4/10 There is nothing new here, except for the old ways / new ways etc system which doesnt seem to affect the game at all.

Game Mechanics
2/10 Awful, just awful, it's a pay to win, freemium, waiting game that has a few bugs. You make Molyneux esque decisions throughout the storylines which seem to have no effect on the game whatsoever, except revealing a different paragraph of completion dialogue.

Writing
7/10  The writing is pretty good and is probably the only thing other than a leftover craving from HBO that will bring you back

Excitement
2/10 watching timers countdown woohoo!

Replayability

Replayability is entirely up to the individual, it takes such a long time to play through in the first place that I doubt it would be possible to finish given the nature of the game but if you did complete the whole story then there are seasonal mmo  war events and 'tales' events which may be enough to bring you back.

Hack Power

Someone has managed to hack the game before, if only a little through tampermonkey, and although the most expliotable part has been removed through updates the potential is there for more. Because it is a server based freemium game hackability is very slim but it has been done before therefore it could be done again, there are a few noticeable bugs so who knows?

Overall

This is Farmville 2.0 set in Westeros, probably a white label clone, and I am dissapointed that the author alloed his name to be attached to it.

Unless you are a big fan of the series and have played all of the Game of Thrones games available I would say do not bother and instead go to this list and try every other one of them first.

If you have played through all the others then you might as well play this one for the writing and the artwork until a better one comes out, but whatever you do don't spend money on it, it will only encourage them to churn out more of this freemium crap.

If you aren't a fan of the game of thrones / song of ice and fire series I just wouldn't bother at all, unless you are a fan of freemium waiting games, but if you are a fan of pay to win freemium games I suggest that you try the gasoline and matches game or autobahn hopscotch.
