With the increasing interest in Kongregate in Idle games lately, it's no wonder there has to come some somewhat similar to the Anti-Idle game, where you don't just sit around and watch, upgrading a few things and then.. watch some more.
In DPS Idle, you don't just upgrade the normal stats, like health, damage, crit rate and stuff like that. No, you also upgrade your gear. Every monster drop some gear which is given a random attribute like damage, health, regeneration, gold find or any of the other stats you can upgrade.
These items come in one of 5 rarities. Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary, just as most other games with such systems. Now, unlike many other games where you're stuck with what rarity you get, this is different. You start with a Common item in all slots. But, those can be upgraded all the way to 3 star Legendary. The biggest cost in that, is gold. It's somewhat cheap at first, but from Epic to Legendary, takes Diamonds. Depending on the items level, the cost is either low (100 being the lowest - level 1 item), up to terribly expensive just in Diamonds.
Each Legendary can be upgraded further gaining stars, to a maximum of 3 stars.
Your inventory is endless, so you can have just as many items on you as you care. Normally, to get money, people just sell the left-over crap they pick up. A better option is to refine it. For that, use the auto refine option. Refining an item gives you gems, which is used to upgrade and enchant items. You can get the following:
Diamonds are the only used to upgrade, but all of them, Diamonds included, are used for enchanting.
Enchanting items are at this moment a bit dissapointing. It's a one-time thing for every item. So pick the enchanted skill and level with care. Each level is +1 on the item. So if you enchant a weapon with 10 damage, it gets +10 damage.
The level shown at top under your name is your average Item Level. The bar below is your actual level. Every time it fills, you get 1 skill point.
Beginner tip: Pick the Sorcerer class for +50% gold find, then auto refine everything common but weapon. Look for a weapon that has an attack speed of 1.56 or very close. Upgrading it reduces the attack speed, thus increasing your DPS output.
When either your own level or item level (I haven't got that far) hits 100, you can retire, starting the game over but with a veteran item being quite overpowered at this stage. It should be nerfed a bit next update. But it's an item that scales with you, so trying to retire as fast as possible could be a nice goal.
The game has two difficulty levels. Normal and Hardcore.
Normal: If you die, you lose half your gold. That's it.
Hardcore: If you die, you have to start over. Regardless how far you got. It does have some multiplier for retirement and Veteran level, tho. Only good for people who doesn't idle this game the first long time, and like the extra risk.
