Hey there everyone!

KongHack is closing in on its 2 year anniversary.  We've grown far beyond just Kongregate flash games, and as such, many of us feel it would be in our best interest to move onto a bigger and better name.  In the process, we'd be generating a new theme for the site.

The name we've settled on is Cheat Asylum.  If a better name comes up, it'll definitely be considered.

Please let me know what you guys think.  This is a huge step in the history of our organization!

i for one am going to disagree, i think cheat asylum sounds awful, and i think that changing the name of the site would be an error

Well, since we're having so many voices I too shall partake in this debate.

I believe that we have come a long way from being just a hacking site. When this site was created we surely had in mind "a place where people can (k)ongregate in order to share, create and divulgate cheats for the said site". But as the years have come and gone the site has gained a new purpose in a whole, we are no more limited to hacking flash games, although that is still our primary focus, we are now a place where Newgrounds, Facebook, Miniclip and even normal computer games cheats can be found (or if there are still no cheats for those games we also have dedicated places for those kind of hacks). It is my opinion that by holding the name "Kong" in the site we limit at least in part our ability (and also merchancability) of being remembered, people will somewhat think of us as just a place for Kongregate hacks, whereas we have departed from that ideal and have embraced a bigger ideal, that of "a place where people congregate to share, create, learn and discuss hacking games".
Now, the harder part I think is of letting go of the "hack" part. If you look at the comparison that Google has of the Word search you'll notice that people look far more for the word "Cheat" than "Hack". Although both can be synonimous in some context, it is easier for people to remember "cheat" than "hack", or if not remember, to relate to cheating than hacking.
I believe that this is of importance since we are trying to have more people visiting and taking part on the community.
All in all, I believe that the name change will be a good change. What I believe that we should pay attention to is to how our present community feels about it. We can't change it just for the future members but also so that our present members feel confortable with this name change. After all, the name is also part of our identity and therefore should appease more to us than to our new members.
So yeah, I like the name change and I believe that CheatAsylum will look good for us. Also, the Asylum is specially nice since it gives quite a few good ideas of what I think we have here (Insane people who are tired of those mindless constraints that game makers forces us into, which more often than not makes the game boring, as well as a place for those people to be treated into.)

to me, a cheat is something you can tap in inside the game to unlock some help that the dev left behind, what gets done here is using outside programs to hack the code of the game and make it dance for us, tinkering with root variables and AOB's is not the same as ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A

keep the name hack, we wont be as high on searches, but thats becuse people want fast cheats over learning hacks, what ever other word you add to it is just astetics and i leave that to others

Kong hack isn't a bad name, it is easy spell for people whom not english.
