Yet another suggestion...
How about a [Note] tab?
"Gold is 4b*8 + 6" look like a short note (I'm not discriminating this type of 'hack',  as long as it is helpful to the user, it is a good information).
I would like some info like "Flash 9+,  obfuscated", "html5, server-sided, time-management", "unity, fps" etc.
Or may input "ABC function is at module xxx.yyy.zzz", so may be helpful to other cheat maker.etc.

So, a [Note] tab that accept short info, limited length < 60-99 char, each note may award 1 point, max 5 per game per user etc.

To handle the opening message problem, "Gold is 4b*8 + 6" type of hacks should place on the [Note] tab.

bye~

(I've the idea that the hack list panel should store more meta data, this suggestion may be an alternative)

No +karma or thanks post please,

I'm liking this idea. I'm certainly not against retooling the way points are awarded from all hack submissions since blanket solutions tend to create blanket problems, but my first initial thought was along the line of haenawolf's thinking: segregate the two. The root problems stems from the fact that hacks are treated equally whether it's an AOB, a value hack, or (in some cases, like Socrates Jones) a walkthrough. Segregate the two and that should, theoretically, solve the problem. If the value hacks are given their own tab, their submission worth can be 5-10 points. Yeah, you took the time to buy a potion, hit next in CE, buy another potion, hit next in CE again, and then repeat until you found a number. Thanks, kind hacker, but you didn't exactly break a sweat.

There would of course be people who would (accidentally?) submit their hack to the wrong category, but there are already numerous stern warnings and consequences on the site, so a stern one there wouldn't be anything new. Include a "Miscategorized" flag button next to the vote buttons, and mods would ideally only have to take a passive stance to remove/delete/punish instead of actively policing.

Tacking on to haenawolf's idea about a Notes tab, that would also allow us to add a place for a note about language variations. I'm sure most AOB hunters have come across a game before that was coded by someone who used variables/functions in Russian/Hungarian/Spanish and so on. Just cracked open Jacko In Hell 2 and all the variables are in French. Would be nice to know beforehand.

But yes, I believe that the problem is that dropping a quarter in the Salvation Army tin outside Walmart is considered equal to working every Wednesday night at a soup kitchen.

How about AoB auto-detection (check if submitted hack contains sequences of HEX values in CE-acceptable format, ignoring color/bold/etc codes within those sequences) for instant submission rewards, and vote/review system for the rest of hack types? This would deal with the issue about unrewarded hacks for unpopular games.

Also make that notes tab, add a category selector (AoB/info/etc.) to the submission page and different points according to that.

Language indication would be nice too.  I've been digging in RoM recently, and although it's variables seem to be all translated, i've encountered some chinese here and there...

I have gone to find myself. If I return before I get back, please hold me here until I arrive.

People who actually do other kinds of hacks than just Value hacks have been complaining for a while that value hacks and AoBs give the same amount of points while one requires a lot more of work than the other (AoB, Root Finding x Value Hack).

quoting tsumi, yeah I used to bitch about it a bit . Btw I don't like kongregatehack's solution hack making should be optional and for fun not to actively ask for user's vote

I've made up my mind on how I'm going to program this beast.  I hope it will work out better than the current system.

Once the programming is in place, I will post the documentation.

It may be a week before this gets taken care of.  I have 2 new servers to install tonight.

Hi, sorry to bother, i am Nuriell, i made this account to ask about my ban and found this thread.

To what i see it seem that posting more time an hack with the same value is considered an abuse but i was doing it cause i thinked that one value was one hack and seying this done in so much game made me feel that it was the right way so if only 1 value change for an update only the value will need to be changed.

I am sorry if this have created problem with the site, i don't want to be a burden and i have done it with good intention feeling that this was the best way to proceed (at the beginning i was making only 1 post for each value but seeying a lot of users posting one time for each main stats i thinked that was the way he needed to be done beiing it unclear).

Now that i know that is a problem i will not do it anymore, also if there a feel that i have done it only for points feel free to remove as much as you like or to ban my profile completely and i start from the beginning.

Really, it was not my ntention to make such a fuss, just lettimng me know that this was a problem will have solved the problem (at least for me).

Please let me know what is the last decision, temprary\permanent ban, points removal, a donation to cover costs and son on, i will accept it and again excuse me if i have done something wrong.

I had to modify the ban system so it wouldn't send you to a shock site.  I did work... to not send people to a shock site... that's basically unheard of. :)

Anyway, you're account is back up and running.  I'll be revamping the hack database system as soon as my new power supply for my laptop arrives.  Who knows when the fuck that will be though. :(

Thanks, sorry again for all the trouble it was not my intention, now that i know is a problem i will submit only 1 hack for a gived value in each game.

Sometime i don't do an hack for a week but wen i have time i can do 10-20 games in a pair of hours just to see if they can be hacked (unless i find a really good game, in that case i stop and try to complete it).

Points millionaire xD

What TIM said seems the most fair thing so far,
also maybe consider a report system for obvious false hacks, multiple game submissions etc...

Is possible an automatic thing that prevent posting if an hack contet is the same?

A simple script that compare thing like:

4b
4B
4byte
4 bytes
4bytes*1

And so on and stop for posting or warn the user.

Or a simple fair warning on the box that posting multiple hack for a singe value will be considered abuse, just specify that all status for a given value must be under one hack.

Example:

Hack 1: Health and money 1 are 4 Bytes *1.

Hack 2: Upgrade Points and Level score are Duble *8.

Just a simple link to a guide that explain how to use the hack submission at beast will be enough and if an user will not read it, well, his problems.

Well, my laptop is dead again.  The fucking power supply exploded last night.  To add to the fucking frustration, power died around 3am again...

I ordered a replacement psu for the laptop, here's the shipping estimate.

SHIPPING ESTIMATE Friday, December 27, 2013 - Monday, December 30, 2013
DELIVERY ESTIMATE Thursday, January 16, 2014 - Wednesday, February 12, 2014 by 8:00pm

After much consideration, I've decided they have either...
1) Shipped the item via carrier pigeon.
2) Strapped the item to the back of Lucky the Tortoise and sent him on his way.
3) Handed it off to the blind girl from The Village. (what a twist!)

Anyway, nothing's changing for now.  I need my laptop back up and running before I can even think about starting work on the site.  I just don't trust other computers with that kinda responsibility. :P
