I realize that on one hand we want more people to come here and thus being higher on the searches is good, but won't being higher on the searches mean devs find this site (and the ha alcks for their games) that much easier and lead to those hacks being patched?

Good point but they are already aware of their games being exploit and that's the reason with every update they brings us, they try to patch those exploits and contributors comes up with another working exploit.

In conclusion, there's always and will be exploits to work on with and there will always be patch/fix for that , leaving another way open.

It is also especially good for flash game hacking, so it would be good if you can somehow capture that as the main function.  It is a little risky changing the name since I'm sure konghack.com has a great reputation with everyone who actually used the site.  (...) If someone makes an account, you could call the site anything and they will come back if they need a hack later.  If you want more regular members, you need something that hooks visitors in and convinces them that it is worth making an account.  The current system probably does well at protecting the hacks from copying by other sites or from being patched out by the developers so you somehow need to get visitors to sign up without giving them the hacks beforehand.

As you said the name change will keep in mind that our purpose is the same as before but even beyond it. While there will be a change in the name, we could say that it is mostly a cosmetic one. And as every cosmetic product out there, it's main purpose is to allow people to see something in a better light, something that they might not know that is, or just to make something better looking.
If we had a very strong hold of people and we were considered a very influential site then the name change would be meaningless since whatever name we choose would have not matter. However, I would guess that it does matter if we are to change name that the new name reflects our relation and our purpose.
Some people here have suggested names, some that are very interesting, but I would like that people have in mind that not always we can choose any name. A quite a few of the names that have been suggested here are actually already owned by someone, even if the domain is "empty" they have been parked and may or may not be for sale.
Also, going back to the quote, the policy of having people register before seeing the hacks does not make it much harder for people to steal our hacks nor for developers to see what is safe and what is not. So popularity in the end will not make it harder nor easier for those who really want to find exploits. If security of the hacks can be obtained with obscurity then this obscurity would have to be a lot more obscure than Konghack is (not that it is obscure...). Also, that would only buy so much time before others find these same exploits, making it just a temporary relief in the end.
It is not like we have a small community where everyone is capable of finding their own through game codes and making exploits or able to understand the ins and outs of packet hacking of online games. If we really had such a community then we could have achieved a good sort of equilibrium between the amount of hacks for the amount of games that we wished for. Because of this, trying to justify that if more people were to known of those exploits would means we not having as many people willing to submit hacks is per see, laugthable at most since we don't have that many people who are really capable or willing to submit real hacks.
Now, we try our best to help those who are willing to learn how to hack or to cheat but the number of people that we have submitting is still somewhat small compared to the number of hacks and cheats that we have. Also, considering that we have been growing with time and that it has been on the direction of games outside Kong then I think it is logical that we drop the name Kong from our identity and adopt a more interesting name.

No number of hacks, good or bad, can replace Common Sense.
If you don't know how to use a hack, don't complain about them. Ask first, then complain.
In case you'd like me to update one of my hacks, please PM me, I'll bother updating them...
We don't bitetoo much.

What about "CheatTrainer"? That would incorporate the cheat aspect as well as letting people know that they can come here not just to use hacks from others, but also learn how to make their own. This has the added benefit of "Trainer" being easier to learn/recognize/spell than "Asylum" for the non-English users.

Cheat Asylum does sound pretty cool indeed. No complaints or better suggestions here.

Cheat asylum sounds kinda...."cheap"? I would think a somewhat funny or humorous name would be easier to remember and leave a better impression, though I am lost as to what that name would be.

[...] we wont be as high on searches [..]

That defeats the purpose.  We want to be the first thing you see when you search for "Game Name Cheats", not buried on page 5.

then if you want to become some sort of mainstream cheat site will you remove the registration to see the cheat and do something that puts an end to constant moaing about how there are so many users who never conribute? becuse that is what you will have,

you can sit at the top of googles results but if a sign up is involved half will walk away and check result number 2 the other 49.9% will make a throw away account and never return

to be easier to find means more "where do i type in this AOB in the game" and "how do i hack facebook" posts

First off, you're a fucking moron.

Do you think every good, contributing member on this site inherently knew about it from birth?  No, they either found the site or were told about the site and came here.

We have about 3-5 good members for every 10K junk accounts.  So, statistically speaking, if we're higher in the search ranks and see more traffic, then we should inherently get a few more good members.  It's all a numbers game when you're talking about online traffic.

The points system auto-prunes junk accounts.  Just check the stats page.  I'm not worried about huge amounts of junk accounts.  Hell, I imported nearly 80,000 accounts that have 0 posts not too long ago. :P

Why not keep it simple and at the same time show we've grown? How about BeyondKongHack, KongHackAndBeyond or something similar with minimal change?
I also like CheatTrainer, or better be it CheaterTrainer - this avoids the double "t" and seems more accurate to me.
While CheatAsylum is cool at first, i feel i might need a spell-checker to write it correctly :P

btw. TIM, is this only about a name change, or you consider moving to a domain matching this new name?
Also, isn't there tags or whatever metadata included in the html exactly for the purpose of better/proper search engine indexing?

I have gone to find myself. If I return before I get back, please hold me here until I arrive.

Yes, it'll be an entirely new domain name.  The name should always match the domain, and visa versa.  Yup, we have all of the appropriate tags in place.
