It works fine for mana.  Start the game, pause the game, search for your mana level, unpause, repause a couple seconds later, search again.  You should wind up with 2 values.  Change them both to 999 and freeze.  BAM, works perfect.  It changes every level, so just do it when you first start and it's easy as pie.
