Game is incredibly easy to hack.  Search for exact value of your lives remaining everytime you get hit or pick up a mushroom and then lock whatever addresses you have at the end to ten.  You can also do the same with experience to the next level.  Everytime you level up search for the "to next" value.  Be forewarned leveling up quickly may cause three bosses to be on the screen at once and eventually there are so many around level 40 that it is best to quit
