two different errors by two different people. both on Windows 7, one of which is 64x the first one i have no idea what the cause is.

the second one's error is that it REQUIRES ELEVATION LIKE IVE BEEN TELLING YOUR HAPPY ASS FOR HALF A YEAR NOW, KADAT

both the installer AND the actual application should ask for elevated privelages upon startup.

Never let a computer tell me shit.

The following table compares the features of ClickOnce deployment with Windows Installer deployment:

Feature

ClickOnce

Windows Installer

Automatic update1

Yes

Yes

Post-installation rollback2

Yes

No

Update from Web

Yes

No

Does not affect shared components or other applications

Yes

No

Security permissions granted

Grants only permissions necessary for the application (more safe)

Grants Full Trust by default (less safe)

Security permissions required

Internet or Intranet Zone (Full Trust for CD-ROM installation)

Administrator

Application and deployment manifest signing

Yes

No

Installation-time user interface

Single prompt

Multipart Wizard

shouldnt need admin permissions to install. Thats kind of the whole point. worst case scenario, you might have to tweak your internet settings or something.

I use this AoB tool to make all the AoBs I post. Try the online version if you dont feel like downloading it.

Or just right click - run as admin. Instead of a double left click, a single right click then a single left click.  Just sayin. ;)

thats strange. because its definitely throwing the error of requiring permissions. i think im gonna wipe my comp anyways, so that should fix the problem.

Wait, what?

Maybe I've just been upgrading since the original?

I've never been asked for permissions either.

Reinstalling windows fixed it like i thought it would. still not sure which setting would cause something like that, though.

Damn man.  Did your UAC settings get maxed?  There's also that IE security thing about trusted apps and what not that WILL effect your ability to install ClickOnce apps.

no, i think it mightve been a windows bug. it kept acting like the system was an admin, and the admin was both admin and user. was all kinda of fucked up. changing the uac didnt do anything, hence the reinstalling OS lol

Well, so long as it's working, that's all that matters. :)
