Should we keep this site going?
It's been ages since we've updated, and Flash is dead...

I have donated in the past, used the site off and on for 10 or so years.

I enjoy using the hacks when there is a game I want to gain an advantage in even if it is an older game, but I have used it for some newer stuff even if it seems to be more and more difficult to get the hacks to work. If there is no traffic due to loss of interest I can understand wanting to let it go.

As for moving forward? I really have no idea... porn?

As wh17y: I drop by occasionally to check on hacks for some games I might be interested in and use cheatengine based on the info here.
Also use the badge hacker now that flash is dead to unlock the daily badges for flash games I did not unlock in the past

You know I want to talk to you a lot, but because of the limitations of my language, finally I just keep quiet,

You can still play local flash games so how about making the hack database local?

I've been on Kongregate and KongHack for over a decade. I really appreciate all the work everyone (especially TiM) has put into it and I still use it on occasion (of course not as much as back in 'the day'). With flash leaving us, I expect Kongregate.com will be focusing more on mobile gaming and microtransactionable games, however, I expect there is still a sizable amount of revenue coming in due to ads and kreds, etc. so I expect it will be knocking around for a while longer.

I would love for this site to remain for all eternity, however, as is always going to be the case, all good things...as long as the content and resources from the site are accessible in some form (be it archive.org or a dump of the site to a file sharing site/torrent or something), then I will respect the wishes of the wider community.

It would be good, if the site were to shut down, to allow the KK Ultra Trainer to still continue to work without requiring a login.

Holy shit, there's someone I haven't seen in ages. :D

I really do want to reiterate, I have no intentions of ever shutting KongHack down permanently, I just don't know where to go from here.  We have no developers, and everything's been stagnant for YEARS.

Thanks to new changes in Chrome's security model, cookies aren't being passed in the userscript's iframe, so there's no longer a way to detect who you are, so auto-loading content is broken. I'm even being logged out at random now a days.

Most of the low level tools I had are long gone, so when random people ask me to lookup shit by email address or IP or what have you, I don't have a way to do it without connecting straight to the DB and running queries.  I mean, that's not a real problem, but it's a long ass process to get through all of the protective layers :P

Anyway, I don't forsee us ever making any kind off comeback.  We're outdated and dead, while the competition is active and turning a profit.  I guess if I'd have come up with some kinda money making scheme a decade ago, someone'd be on the payroll actually earning a living off writing AoB's, but that's just not the case.  Essentially, we missed out by being an open free community.

Anyone have any viable ideas where to go from here?

Back from the dead

Saw the news Flash was finally getting killed off and thought of the site. Haven't been active in forever but checked in and was surprised stuff was still here. There's this post in the kongregate forums so it sounds like they're still going to (potentially) be active which lends credence to keeping the site going.

Maybe something like a Discord so people can still chat and post but it keeps the costs down?

Yeah, not falling for that one.  I'm not posting any links offsite like that. ;)

Hey guys, it's been a while.

Should we keep this site going?  I haven't ran any kinda updates on it in years, and our primary focus (Kongregate/Flash) is dieing out.  The general activity is mostly gone, various pieces of the system have died off, and any development on the trainer has since ceased years ago.

It's a shitty thing to think about, but should we just call it quits and shut things down?  If not, is there any hope for ever regaining users?

UPDATE: This is the only topic in popular topics... :(

you should advertise meybe it will bring more users.....

Before it goes away, I would like say thank you for setting up and keeping this site running.
And to everyone who has contributed to the hacks and upkeep over the years.
I have gone through periods over the years where I had to complete something I started, like getting the Kong badges or maybe finishing a game there.
(not so much anymore as an old man but anyway)
This site let me answer that need many times.

So sincerely,
Thanks

Looking at kongregate, i guess moving forward if you wanted to keep the spirit of the site, it would have to change to unity hacking?
On the note of data leaks, i guess just scrub everyones data and just leave username email and password?

Yay, finally i'm back!
Couldn't login ever since TIM wiped the passwords back in 2017(?) and the "forgot password" thingy was not working. Neither did the chat, since it shared credentials with the site.
Now, try to guess how many others dropped out of KH for the same reason...

Hey, TIM, i'm still rocking my XP SP3 (with Win7, Win98 and Debian on the side, rarely booted)! You still a security fanatic? cheeky
OT/

Now, on topic.
Kong is currently a BIG FUCKING MESS.
People can't play the games, let alone look on how to hack them. The only useful thing is KBH (is Kolonel still around?).
I also read that they closed game submissions few months ago. The ship is sinking.
So, that one is out for now.

There are already forums for FB, AG, NG, etc... Look on how to raise the activity there.
Does FB still have games? Only part of it i use is Messenger.

Everyone is so focused on their mobiles now... mostly playing games, playing YT videos, or browsing FB.
Maybe expand the Android section and add one for IOS?

Got any website hacks? Like a way to re-enable the classic layout on YT? Or how to bypass some simple paywall? Or the good, old userCSS for more pleasant reading?
Generic website hacking forum may be worth a try.

Maybe bring back KH War? It was kinda fun working on my helper script for it :P

P.S. the "latest reviews" block shows some PHP warning:
Warning: Use of undefined constant MEMCACHE_COMPRESSED - assumed 'MEMCACHE_COMPRESSED' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /var/www/autoload/GCWorld/CMS/Block/FancyReviews.php on line 103

I have gone to find myself. If I return before I get back, please hold me here until I arrive.
