Should we keep this site going?
It's been ages since we've updated, and Flash is dead...

It would be good, if the site were to shut down, to allow the KK Ultra Trainer to still continue to work without requiring a login.

Yeah, still using the trainer. If the site went down I'd shed a tear but am not using the site as often as it used to be ofc.

Long time lurker here. Have donated to the site once if I recalled correctly.
I just want to say that I'm super glad this site exists, it's actually how I got into flash gaming way back when and how to exploit it.
...and it kinda woke my tics up to completely destroy achievements...

I think I've done almost all of the things that I can do in Kongregate too, apart from 50 odd badges that are left, that may not be able to be achieved because flash died.

I love ya guys, thanks for all your contribution, TIM.

I hope that this site can continue on somehow, but I'm really not sure how, since a lot of web-based gaming is dying. Perhaps migrate to Discord?

We have a discord, and it's pretty dead.

There's no one left to do any programming, so the trainer and the site won't be getting any updates any time soon :(

RIP

Just thought I'd poke my nose in and say hello. It's been years and my old account went inactive and had its password "cleared" oh well. Flash is/was dead but SAS4 seems to be making a slight comeback. Think the video card drought and the fact NK has a flash archive executable to run all their old flash games is fueling a minor resurge in the old games.

I poked back in and even dusted off my old trainer and updated my auto attach process to include NK's new executable and pull the active flash process out of it.

Sad to see flash die out though and most of the community with it.

If you ask me, maybe it should just keep on going for those who still wants it.

Or maybe we should probably make a different website dedicated for hacks. I dunno if this forum site relies too much on flash or not. If it does, then maybe it's best to cut off the losses. I'm sure there's a new way to hack into Kongregate games for non-flash games.

there's a lot of ways to play flash games that have hacks from the trainer. a few of which i regularly use. ive had a lot of fun messing around with stuff that can be done with this tool and the guides on this side and losing it would be a loss.
maybe other types of games like html5 and webgl can be worked on in addition to the legacy stuff that's already here.

All I know, maybe it'll be fun to see if it's possible to make a new website for Kongregate hacks that can also play Kongregate games at the same time. Similar to Arcadeprehacks.

I'm sure some people have difficulties using KongHack and might want a more convenient version that eases access to cheat in games.

if you wanted to keep the spirit of the site, it would have to change to unity hacking?

Pretty much, any tiny amount of unity hacking would keep up the tradition, or just archiving everything so far would work too.
others said that. but there's a point I'd like to stress:

FLASH IS NOT DEAD!

If something is obsolete but is used, that something is still useful. proof is the many Flash emulators that popped up like mushrooms in the rain. but truth is, most big companies abandoned Flash, which means it is now entirely on our hands to keep the flame alive.

is there any hope for ever regaining users?

Truth is,we grew up with flash, it's a part of our lives, if we were to get new users we'd have to either take users from similar sites (and draw the ire of their communities), or set our sights on younger users, the mobile generation(PUBG, CS:GO, gacha, YouTube, TikTok)
Plus,I could talk for hours with no end about all the software restrictions and closed source shenanigans that became the norm on gaming companies, but I'll end this post with a simpler point:

    WHAT IS KONGHACK'S GOAL?
You said it yourself, Tim, you pay money to keep this website up, that means there is SOMETHING you believe in, albeit perhaps unachieved. and that something, that goal is the thing you have to keep in mind when making whatever decision you make:

What is KongHack's goal?
Only in knowing that, you can make a decision
(if you are willing to share to us, we'd be more than happy to listen)

PS:Can anyone have an entire folder of profile pics or is that an Admin privilege?

As far as goals go, I don't have anything in particular.

In regards to my avatar, it's a custom PHP script that reads an image at random from a folder and returns it.  Anyone can make one, you just gotta have hosting somewhere :P

Since Flash is just obsoleted but not dead, then I believe there will be a time in history when people will be using Flash again for a job newer programming tools can't achieve.

I do hope there's an upcoming game that uses Flash to its fullest potential, just like several highly-acclaimed Flash cartoons like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

And if that game gets posted on Kongregate, the hackers might got themselves a new game to hack onto.

Update: So, has it been decided if the site should shut down or what to save cost and cut losses? Maybe a replacement to Konghack might be what we need now.

Hello guys, it has been a long time since I visited KongHack. I just received my new laptop and went to Kongregate and took a look. I discovered that Adobe Flash had been obsolete after checking their games. I then remembered KongHack and came to take a look on what has been happening to it. I realized that following the death of Adobe Flash, Kongregate appears to be impacted significantly which greatly affected KongHack to the point of existence. I've gone over the remarks and comments left by other gamers, and some of them seems like they might wish to keep this website up and running. This website offers numerous helpful hacks, information and tips throughout the years.

I believe it would be a waste if KongHack were to cease operations. Today, I logged in and understand that the certificate has either been expired or revoked. As such,  I made the ultimate decision to post my comments and views regarding the future of KongHack, and what possible changes could be made in order for it to strive. If we wish to carry on with KongHack do we want it to be monetized or continue to offer free hacks for games? I feel that many adjustments need to be made from the very beginning.

In order not to bore you guys, I will just come out with some basic changes, and if anyone wants to know more in detail then maybe I’ll explain and paint a bigger picture.

So some simple ideas and steps as follows:

  1. Rebuild the entire website headers (Topic) by platforms rather than websites. (Example: Adobe Flash, Unity, GoDot Engine, Unreal Engine and etc.)

  2. Inside each platform header (Game Topic) will have all available games from the platform. Members can either choose to play the hacked or unhacked version of the game. Implement something like Kongregate style but make it our own style with game chat, all chat and badges. Below the game will be the actually forum whereby members can talk about the game, broken hacks or request for certain hacks.

  3. Change the point system for a better purpose. The previous point system is a pain and made me disappointed and left the website for a while. Remain how we’re able to earn points previously but won’t be deducting points due to inactivity. Any form of activity in the website also earn points. Encourage members to play games for points like badges. (Badges: Easy: 25 points, Medium: 50 points, Hard: 75 points, Impossible 100 points).

  4. Create titles for every member for activity involvement feeling. (Titles: Bronze: Top 100%, Silver: Top 75%, Gold: Top 50%, Platinum: Top 25%)

  5. Spend time on encouraging members on learning how to hack and game developing. Reward members whom is able to update hacks and develop new games for the website.

I’ve already tried to shorten it but I can’t leave out some crucial details so it’s still long. I’ve left out the monetize method yet as I’m not certain where are you heading towards. No matter what, I’ll never encourage KongHack to be Pay-To-Play (P2P) or pay for privileges. It is a tough job and it’s not a 1-man show. You’ll need a team to make this website great again. I might not have programming skills like most of you but I’ve got ideas to bring this website back to life again. smiley

P.S. It scare the hell out of me when I can't post and do anything. I seriously thought KH died. crying

As far as the SSL cert goes, the process that auto-renews doesn't work anymore.  In order to fix that, I'd need to build a new haproxy server in order to run the latest certbot software. Unfortunately, this takes time and comes with a whole slew of problems should something go sideways.  If you see it down, just hit me up on discord and I'll get it back up in a couple of minutes.

Here's why those things you listed haven't already been done.

1. Time, energy, motivation.

2. We don't host pre-hacked games.  I'm not dealing with DCMA nor potential lawsuits. Already been there, already done that.

3. The point system doesn't do anything anymore, and hasn't in years.

4. We average about a post a month, after you take out the russian spam bots that somehow keep getting in.

5. Who has time anymore? Damn near everyone that used to contribute up and vanished like a fart in the wind. Hell, I used to spend nearly every night writing the code for the site, but it's been 8+ years since I've done anything more than maintainence / patches. The amount of time it would take to start over is far more than I could ever spare for now. I've got 3 kids, so my time is pretty much monopolized. :P

I just consider KH one of my monthly bills and keep the lights on. Some day I'll get around to packaging everything up so I can run on leaner hardware to save a few bucks, but until then, there's bigger fish to fry.

Well, I had a sudden urge to play some Kongregate but then I remembered they sold out, forced Kartridge down everyone's throats, pushed a shit ton of MTX transactions and went off the deep end being anti-consumer, anti-developer, anti-everyone except for profit. I wouldn't blame you if you decided to shut down the site because it's as you say, the forums are pretty much dead, we can't have fun and enjoy the gakmes on Kongregate like we used to and everything is just different now. Flash games are still fun, thrive in small corners of the internet but it just isn't what it used to be or what we want it to be anymore. I still come by and lurk from time to time, but most of my recent "hacking" and exploiting comes in the form of abusing the shit out of my Steam games and Game Pass games. All of the changes and "evolution" of Kongregate is why I mostly stopped coming around and haven't posted for years.. they pretty much killed all the joy of logging into Kong, chatting and having fun with friends and I just gave up.

And with that being said, it's been great T.I.M, had a lot of good times on here, a lot of great times on Kong, a lot of fun using the KH Trainer and providing feedback and sharing .sols, etc.. so, thank you for all the years of fun and your incredible dedication, hard work and drive to be the #1 website for flash hacks. Do what you got to do to take care of that family of yours and don't feel too bad if you want to finally call it quits cause it's been 14 great years.

Thanks for everything.
