Really dumb question (please don't ban me)

It's been a loong while since I used Cheat Engine, trying to hack some Kongregate games. For hacks like:

4e 48 12 12 9d 02 00 15 00
4e 48 12 12 02 02 02 02 02

Do I open Cheat Engine, pick the process (I know how to do this), set Value Type to Array of Bytes, then type in the amount and click Scan? Or how do I use it? I know you replace the 1st string with the 2nd, I just don't remember the process of doing so.

Also, I tried using Kongregate Badge Hack, when I logged in, it said "Runtime error: the operation timed out" then it closed. Any idea what's going wrong?
