you were informed correctly. since some MMO's are completely server sided, it makes them almost impossible to hack anything and that includes the packet that says "give this badge"

most MMO's though, use the swf to tell kong you got a badge rather than their server. i guess they just never bothered to figure out how to have their servers contact the kong servers directly. im not complaining lol. makes their game easy to hack and gives us badges

Let me break this down for you.

There are 3 API systems in which a Developer can post statistical data to Kongregate from their Game.

1) Flash API.  This make some kinda funky call from a SWF to another SWF or a script or something, and that's how the game submits it's data.  This is what KBH targets.  Early flash based MMOs did this all the time.

2) Javascript API.  Anyone still using this is an idiot, since it's super easy to exploit.  A javascript function communicates with the local Kongregate API and off you go to badge land.  Some MMOs did use this!  A great example would be Dream World (or whatever the fuck it's called).

3) Server-To-Server API.  This is where shit gets tricky.  None of the data that KBH needs to post to Kongregate is available, since it's completely buried server side.  Their server calls Kongregate's server directly instead of through your browser.  Since you never see it, you can't intercept, change, fake, etc.  It's realy the only way to prevent us from hacking the badges. 

So I've got a weird problem. When I unzip the file to my specified folder, it creates the folder, but it's completely empty! I've tried downloading with IE, Chrome and Firefox and same problem on all three. I've tried unzipping it maybe 50 times, and nothing, it just keeps creating an empty folder. I'm using Windows 7, 64-bit, Flash fully up to date. Any ideas??

Never mind, for some reason I had to use 7-zip to extract it. Weird. Working fine now.

Thats a great idea. Ive actually got 3 or 4 different colored icons in my source folder. That leads me to believe I may have looked into this and decided it wasnt feasible, OR if I wasnt sure what color i liked best lol.
