[Resolved] HELP! I can't figure out post status change, I'm so stupid!
Help! I'm stupid as f*ck, can't figure out post status chang
KongHack Sexiest Man Title Holder - since Feb 2011

I posted a thread in the KHUT sub-forum about a non-functional feature in the software about background color change not working.
Here is a link to that thread (as well as the word thread above)
https://konghack.com/topic/9442-change_background_color__a_critical_error_is_inside_me?p=81179

As you must know if you are reading this (though it is possible you don't I guess) - when making a thread on KONGHACK you have a drop down menu next to "Subject" - which gives status info on the post, like this one says Help (Both this post and the thread in question)

And thanks to our not-so friendly/Ghetto neighbourhood
kolonelkadat !*! coming to the rescue, instantly replying and then updating the KHUT, solving the problem. !*!

I cannot seem to figure out how to change the status to "Resolved" - since it well, was obviously resolved.
Am I stupid or something, or just missing a really obvious way to change it? I tried clicking "Edit Post" of the starting post in the thread and it let me change everything BUT the status drop down menu, which was non-existant in the "edit post" edtior.

!*! = (A special thanks
kolonelkadat for your bravery and service on the front lines to and for the sovereign nation of KONGHACK the province/state of KongHackUltraTrainer)

I changed the prefix to resolved for you. im not sure how you'd go about it as a normal user, but i think it would probably be by clicking edit on the original post, and then changing the prefix that way. but since you said it would let you change everything except the prefix, it might just not be possible (unless tim makes a fix for that)

if you can't change the prefix at all, just post in the thread and be like "can a mod change to solved and lock topic pls?" and it'll happen sooner or later. whenever the next mod sees it.

Had the same issue with the recent KHUT crashing thread.
Seems a normal member can't change the prefix currently, only staff.

I have gone to find myself. If I return before I get back, please hold me here until I arrive.

truth to be told prefixes were added cause people were putting weird shit in the title of topics for games and topic had to be manually mapped to entries in the game database..... fool's gold... fool's gold.

Yup, changing the prefix is mod only.  Just like locking topics, moving topics, setting sticky/global state, mapping to games, etc.

In the OP I said I tried the edit. Thanks for changing it for me.

Ok, well that settles that. For a minute I felt retarded that I could not figure it out.
I wanted to do it just to keep my posts clean and self managed - rather than leaving it to the mods to do. But if I cannot do it, then oh well.

Thanks for the help everyone.

It's not you man, it's more to prevent the general assholes from fucking with topics.  It's bad enough we have morons submitting "how can sh0t h4x" as AoB's to the database, I'm not planning on giving them more things to screw with. :P

One of the downsides of running a forum on the internet. No matter what the privelage or ability is. The more freedom and leeway you give the basic user base, the more they will use it to shit all over the place and defile the website somehow. Sort of like a bathroom stall - because online nobody can see you do anything if you really don't want them to, just a name you show them at most.

Here's a great example.  This asshole marked his topic as "Information", when it obviously isn.t
https://konghack.com/topic/9474-forum_posting

I cleared it.  If we let him change it on his own, he'd set it right back.  Meh.

Anyway, marking this one as resolved so I can check it off my list.
