Ok everyone, I've been formulating a few ideas.  I'll be updating this post through out the day as I have a chance to write.

Here's what I want to hit.

KongHack Achievements!
1) First Post, 10th post, 50th post, etc.
2) Same for Hacks, Sols, Reviews, Data Mining, etc.
3) Earn 100pts, Earn 1000pts, Spend 5000 pts, etc.
4) Moderator awarded achievements?


Redemption System.
For the point dropped accounts (rapidly approaching 8000), I was thinking about sending out an email with a specially coded link that would allow them, one time only, to reset their account to 100pts.  It would flag the account as a redeemed account, so if it drops agian, there will be no saving it.  This is in an attempt to bring back members and educate them on the system.


I'm looking for any kind of feedback.  If I do build us an achievement system, it will come after I finish the wiki, and we'll definitely need to come up with an official list.

both the achievements and the redemption system sound like awesome ideas. not so sure about the userscrnt of pointsipt requiring X amount of points/posts, because the whole reason people join is for hacks. i doubt people would spend their time posting 5 times, when they can keep searching google for whatever hack theyre looking for (and probably find a decent workaround)

Maybe have some "The Most" banners where the staff, sponsor, l33th4x are or maybe under the active banner. Have one for: Post, Hacks, Reviews, Karma, Points, and Games Added. Also, restricting it to members that have a last seen date of lets say the past 3 months or so. Not including hackbot, possibly yourself (TiM), and obviously myself for points and games added.
 

I like the notion that you need to be more active in order to benefit from the site.  The only gripe I have, aside from wondering if I have logged on and posted recently, is that people will just google for the codes, or go to other sites that don't have the rules put into place.

To mediate my first gripe, I suggest adding something to the .api?  the banner that shows up underneath the games.  Make it have a little button or some other way of displaying if you have posted recently, and your points that you currently have.

Lastly, I appologize if this was the wrong place to put this.  I've spent around 20 minutes going through the most recent important stuff posts, and I couldn't find one that wasn't either old(ish) or started going into the frustration magnet direction, ya know?

Are you guys thinking about doing app (free) downloads on androids/ios devices to help with funding/getting money from another company like Tapjoy, or whoever else is out there? 

You can make an iOS app for jailbroken devices ;). 

Pssh, sounds like you are just too lazy to code in xcode :P.  To be honest, Objective-C is a really retarded language.  It is some mangled version of C.

If you do decide to do it, I do have a stash of first gen macbook pros laying around (without chargers though) that I can toss your way.
