KongHack is a fucking bad ass name, but it's not the best for rankings, and it doesn't accurately describe who we are and what we do.

Well, it souns kinda generic for me (but since a cant seem to find another good name i better keep quiet), although if you see it from a point of view where it appears with priority on a google search, it doesnt sound so bad and it made what it is inteded to do.

and maube that popularity with help to expand the other game sections.

If I may.. Fuck the name! KongHack is bloody awesome, don't change it.

In terms of SEO, the name has lost some value when it comes to ranking. Exact domain match, or search match or whatever it's called is valued less that it once was. What's more important, is how people link to the site. And how things are linked inside here. On-page links are really important, so are inbounds. Good inbounds links does more than a matching name. Also, if you were to make a new domain, keep in mind that you would have to build everything up again in google trust, backlinks and so forth.

Encourage people to create links to the site. Could be from other forums dealing with game cheats. Cheat Engine forums perhaps.
Wikipedia doesn't have "Winston Churchill" in it's domain name, but it ranks number 1 on the search nonetheless.

George W. Bush was once linkbombed, so when one searched for 'terrorist', his website showed up as number one. Think that makes my point.

Work on the optimization, don't reset the progress.

I think you're missing the point here.  Do we hack only Kongregate games anymore?  No.  We're looking at entirely new name for the community, something that describes us now, not what we used to be.

Aside from our brief time as Flash Cheats, we've always been tied to Kongregate.  It's time to move on, since we aren't only Kongregate anymore.

As far as keeping our current SEO, that's easy.  Google accepts permanent redirects and will maintain.  There's even a webmaster tool that helps in the domain name transition phase.

Kong can be so much more else. If it had an 'e', it would be 'Konge' which is King in Danish. How about RexHackers then? Rex being latin for King.

...So you're suggesting other names then?  You know that would be defeating the purpose of your previous post, right?

Yep, but if sticking with the name just isn't an option, I can atleast try to contribute with something else then.

Your contribution has failed sir.  I'd say quit while you're ahead, but I have a feeling your next response will be hilarious.

The purpose of this change is to relate it with what exactly you guys do and to find the site while searching for such criteria, is that right?

Then i would suggest these:

HackIT ( though it sound more like hack of anything, you can put a little hint on the title to specify on games)
GameHack
GameExploit

And i suppose changing the title of the site and hinting it toward the actual purpose, which is ''game hack'' , people will easily find this website while searching with the common search criteria ( hack, cheat, exploit) .

I realize that on one hand we want more people to come here and thus being higher on the searches is good, but won't being higher on the searches mean devs find this site (and the hacks for their games) that much easier and lead to those hacks being patched?

I've interacted with couple devs over the years of some popular games, and some not so popular. Two or three of the ones I have talked to like it when some of us hack their games. We find them some major exploits to fix, along with bugs.

With the devs finding hacks for their games. If random people from nowhere come here looking for possibly non-existant game hacks, don't you think devs already kow where to find such hacks?

With the name change, I like CheatAsylum

You could call the site anything you want.  Please keep everything working the same way as it is since this site is awesome already.  Also, it would be good if it links from the old page so we can find the new one if you change the url and please let us keep our same logins.  The site is focused mostly on hacks as best I can tell, so that makes sense to keep in the name.  It is also especially good for flash game hacking, so it would be good if you can somehow capture that as the main function.  It is a little risky changing the name since I'm sure konghack.com has a great reputation with everyone who actually used the site.  A different name is not going to make any difference for people who don't make an account and can't find the hacks because they didn't make an account.  If someone makes an account, you could call the site anything and they will come back if they need a hack later.  If you want more regular members, you need something that hooks visitors in and convinces them that it is worth making an account.  The current system probably does well at protecting the hacks from copying by other sites or from being patched out by the developers so you somehow need to get visitors to sign up without giving them the hacks beforehand.
